How to mute or unmute group notifications on WhatsApp

You can mute group notifications for a specified period of time. You"ll still receive messages sent to the group, but your phone won"t vibrate or make noise when they"re received. Messages sent to muted chats won’t be displayed in the badge count on the WhatsApp icon unless you’re mentioned or replied to in the chat.

Mute group notifications

1. Open the WhatsApp group chat, then tap the group subject. 
   • Alternatively, swipe the group to the left in the Chats tab. Then tap More > Mute. 
2. Tap Mute. 
3. Select the length of time you"d like to mute notifications for.

Unmute group notifications

1. Open the WhatsApp group chat, then tap the group subject. 
   • Alternatively, swipe the group to the left in the Chats tab. Then tap More > Unmute. 
2. Tap Muted. 
3. Tap Unmute.
